Anti-Corruption Research Paper Competition Open for Submissions

If the experience of the anti-corruption community over the last 20 years has taught us anything, it’s that corruption is a nearly ubiquitous, multi-faceted problem and that fighting it is a complicated endeavour.

Great progress has been made over the years in developing: empirical tools to help us better understand the problem; analytical approaches that seek to illuminate the reasons why corruption exists; and tools that seek to eradicate it.

Corruption is a growing area of study in academic disciplines as diverse as law, sociology, economics and anthropology. And although we now know more about corruption than we ever have before, it is undeniable that a great deal of progress still needs to be made in understanding corruption and developing effective solutions.

And this is where you come in! The Anti-Corruption Research Network, operated by Transparency International, is asking for submissions from young scholars for its annual anti-corruption research paper competition.

We are asking young scholars from around the world to take up the challenge of providing innovative new ways to understand and fight corruption and are offering the possibility to showcase these approaches to a global audience of corruption researchers, practitioners and policy makers.

Your submission can be on any topic related to corruption. The challenge is to build on the current state of knowledge while contributing your fresh insights as members of a new generation of scholars well acquainted with emerging technologies, an increasingly interconnected world and new, perhaps experimental, research methodologies. Papers that provide concrete policy recommendations will have a definite advantage.

For the purposes of this competition, eligible young scholars are graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, or scholars who have completed their PhDs within the last three years. Your submissions will be judged by an international panel of judges and the prize is a travel stipend to attend an international research conference of your choice.
